Detective Kimi

The Watanabe Story

Disclaimer: I don’t own Rugrats or All Grown Up

At the Finsters Residence (11:00AM)

At the Finsters residence, a knock is at the door. Chaz walks up and answers it, it’s Tommy and Kimi. Chaz smiles as he hugs his daughter, “Kimi!” Then he shakes Tommy’s hand. “Tommy. It’s about time you two showed up.”

Kimi shrugged. “We would have been here sooner, but Tommy just HAD to drop off the revisions he made to Chuckie’s movie script he’s writing for him.”

Chaz laughed. “And what about you my princess? How have you been?” He asked in a, obviously mocked, baby tone.

Kimi rolled her eyes. “Dad, how many times do I have to ask you to drop the baby act?”

Kira walked over with a smile. “Maybe when you come in with one of your own in your arms.”

Kimi and Tommy were blushed deep red. “Touché.” Kimi sighed.

Tommy laughed. “So how have you two been doing?”

“Nothing much, except business is booming at the café.” Chaz replied as the four walked over to the family room to sit down.

After a few minutes of talking and drinking some tea Kira made, there was a knock at the door. “I’ll get it.” Chaz said as he got up. He walked over to the door and opened it. There stood two tall men dressed in black. “Eh...yes, may I help you?”

“Are you Chaz Finster?” The tallest man asked. Chaz nodded. “Is your wife Kira Watanabe Finster?” Chaz nodded again. “Is she in?”

Chaz nodded one last time. “She’s...uh...in the family room.” He pointed to the room. The two men walked in past him. “Hey now, you can’t just...Kira these men want to see you!” He called ahead.

The two men approached Kira. She, Kimi, and Tommy were more than a little confused. “Kira Watanabe Finster?” The shorter of the two men asked. Kira nodded. “Please stand up.”

Kira, still very confused, complied. The tallest man turned her around, rather forcibly, and placed handcuffs on her. “Kira Finster, you’re under arrest. You have the right to remain...”

“Now just a minute!” Kimi called as she stood up. She pulled out her badge and showed it to them. “I’m Detective Kimi Pickles.” She put her badge away. “On what charge is my mom being arrested?” She demanded.

“I’m sorry detective, but your mother has been funding a terrorist group.” The tallest man said. Kimi, Kira, Chaz, and Tommy all gasped in horror

(Note: this would be the intro credit’s voice over if this was an actual TV show)

Kimi (Voice over): "As a baby, you grow up usually very innocently. As you grow older you learn more and make life making decision. But there is always some sense of evil that can occur to you.

My name is Kimi Pickles; I'm a detective. If you need help, no matter if you're a kid or an adult, and you don't know what to do; come to me and I promise you I'll help you out.

At the Police Department (12:00 PM)

Inside the police station the door is slammed open as Kimi storms in. With each desk she goes by, the officers sitting in them quiver with fear, anyone who almost gets in her way moves out of it as fast as they can. She stomps up to the Police Chiefs office and opened the door. Sitting in her chair was the chief (yes it’s a woman). She appeared to be in her late 20’s to early 30’s. She had had long blond hair and was wearing a white business-type shirt and had black pants and black shoes on. She jumped when Kimi stormed in.

“Ok chief, I want to know why my mothers been arrested.” She demanded.

The chief had a shocked look on her face. “What are you talking about Kimi? What do you mean your mothers been arrested?” She asked.

Kimi sighed, realizing that if it’s the FBI, which she assumes it is, then her chief would have no idea until later in their investigation. “You see, two men came into my house and arrested my mother and...”

Before she could finish, two men came into the Chiefs office. Kimi gasped quietly, it was the same two men who arrested her mother.

The shorter man coughed before speaking. “Chief Wakeman. I’m Agent Sander, this is Agent Wilco. We’re with the FBI. We’ve detained a criminal and would like to keep her here until we can make arrangements to send her to a more secure facility.” Then he looked at Kimi. “Ah, detective, I see we meet again. What brings you here?”

Chief Wakeman looked at the FBI agents. “Detective Kimi is a part of our department. And I’m curious. On what charges is Kira Finster being arrested on?”

Agent Wilco stepped forward. “We have evidence that clearly proves that Mrs. Finster has been funding a terrorist group based in Europe.”

Kimi scoffed. “You have any proof of this ‘accusation’?”

“As a matter of fact we do.” Agent Sander said as he pulled out some papers from his coat. This caught Kimi’s attention and she looked at the papers. “As you can see, she’s been transferring money from this account of hers to the terrorists and they’ve been sending back twice the amount a little time later.”

Kimi took the paper from Sander’s hand and studied it. “This is my mothers Paris account she had when she worked at Euro-Reptar but...but she hasn’t touched it since we came to America years ago.”

”Well, apparently, she has.” Agent Wilco sighed. “Now, can we detain the criminal here Wakeman?”

Kimi looked at her chief who only sighed in defeat. “We have no choice. Yes you may detain the accused here.”

“Thank you.” Agent Sander said. Then he and Agent Wilco left; but not before Kimi and Wilco exchanged glares.

Kimi turned back to Chief Wakeman. “Chief you can’t let them do that.”

Wakeman sighed. “I don’t have much of a choice Kimi. If the evidence is clear then she must be arrested. Don’t worry, I will try and delay them as long as I can from transferring her.”

Kimi scoffed and turned back to the door. Then she stopped and looked at Wakeman. “Donna. Is it alright right if I...”

“Visit your mother? Be my guest. But just do it in a few hours.” Wakeman replied with a small smile. Kimi looked a little confused. “Kimi, before I transferred here I was a lieutenant at a department where the FBI made regular appearances. Trust me; all FBI agents are there for a few hours after they drop them off and ONLY a few hours. Trust me Kimi, she’ll still be there.” Kimi smiled back as she left.

At the Prison part of the Police Department (3:00 PM)

Kimi walked down the prison area of her station. She came to the cell her mother was in. Kira looked at Kimi, looked down, and quickly looked back once she realized it was her daughter and got up quickly. “Musumesan!” {Daughter} She said rather excitedly.

“Okaasan.” {Mother} Kimi said calmly. She looked at the officer who followed her and nodded. With that he opened the door and let her in, and then he closed it behind her.

Kira and Kimi hugged each other, although Kimi was more emotionless of the two. There was a chair in Kira’s cell for Kimi. She sat down while her mother sat on her cell’s bed. They were silent for a moment. Then Kira was the first to speak. “So...did they realize this was all just a misunderstanding? That I’ve been mixed up with someone else?” She asked innocently.

Kimi sighed disappointedly and shook her head. “No it’s not a misunderstanding mom. You see they have proof that you did fund the terrorists.”

Kira was shocked. “What? What are you talking about Kimi? You know I would never ever fund such vial people as terrorists.”

“That’s not what the bank accounts say mother.” Kimi said a little sternly. Kira was confused. “I’ve checked you Paris account mom. According to it you still have money in it and you’ve been giving a bit of it to the Terrorists.”

Kira was appalled. “Kimi! That account was specifically for your inheritance. And I have not touched it since we came to America. Go and check our banks. They’ll tell you I’ve never touched that account.” Kimi looked at her mother.

Later (6:00 PM)

Kimi was sitting on a desk when Sam came up. “Anything?” She asked. “Your mother was right. According to these reports you mother has never touched her Paris account from here.” Sam said with a sigh.

Kimi sighed irritably. “Then how was her account changed?”

Officer Carla Williams, whose desk Kimi is sitting on, coughed a little. Kimi turned around to face her. “Maybe, if she did do it, she did it when she wasn’t in America. Was there ever a time when she left the county?”

Kimi thought about it for a moment and nodded. “Yeah, once a year my mother went to Paris to visit my grandmother...you don’t suppose.”

Chief Wakeman stepped up. “Kimi, I’ll give you fare to fly over to Paris. Go there and find out what’s going on.” Kimi looked at Wakeman and nodded.

At Kimi and Tommy’s house (9:00 PM)

Kimi is in her room with a suitcase on her bed; she’s busy packing some clothing into it. Just then a voice spoke. “You’re not walking out on me are you?” Kimi jumped when she heard the voice and turned to face it. It was Tommy.

“No, of course not dear. I’m just going to Paris for a few days.” Kimi said with a giggle at her husband’s confusion. “There might be information there that could clear my mother’s name.”

“Oh...ok...” Tommy seemed a bit disappointed about something as he looked away. Then he looked at Kimi. “Say Kimi, can I...”

Kimi cut him off. “No Tommy you can’t some along. It’s nothing personal it’s just...you know my department’s not swimming in cash at the moment so...”

Tommy nodded. “I understand Kimi.”

Kimi walked up to her husband and kissed him on the forehead. “Don’t worry. I’ll be back soon. It’s only for a few days.” Tommy laughed a little. “What?”

“It’s just, I feel like I’m the one who should be saying that around here.” He joked.

Kimi was a bit surprised. Then she giggled. “You’re such a guy.” She went to her suitcase, closed it, and picked it up. Then she kissed her husband again, this time on the lips. “I’ll be back soon.” With that she went out to the car.

Tommy watched her drive off. Suddenly the phone rang. He answered it. “Hello, Pickles Residence. Oh hi Dad...what’s that?” He asked a bit surprised.

At the Airport (10:30 PM)

Kimi went through check out and was waiting for her plane to arrive. She looked at her watched irritably. “Why me? Why’s my plane late.” She let out an irritable sigh.

Just then a voice called out. “KIMI!” She turned to see Tommy coming with a suitcase.

Kimi was rather shocked. “Tommy? What are you doing here? I told you I can’t afford for you to...”

“Actually Kimi. He’s with me.” Kimi turned to see her father-in-law, Stu Pickles. Unlike the other parents, Stu hasn’t changed much in the looks department, his hair is a tad lighter, since it’s starting to go a little grey-ish, but other than that he’s still the same Stu.

Kimi was a bit surprised. “Mr. Pic...Stu.” She has always been a bit uncomfortable calling Stu Dad, and she still hasn’t broken the habit of starting to call him Mr. Pickles. “What are you doing here?”

“Well, you see Kimi. It just so happens there’s a Reptar movie being made at Euro-Reptar and they’re using my Reptar-Robot. However they need my help with a few things so they invited me to come along. They also said I could bring up to 2 people. Didi told me she couldn’t make it so I decided to call you guys. When I did Tommy told me you were already on your way there so I invited Tommy to come along.” Stu explained

Kimi nodded. “But who’s the other person joining you?” Suddenly there were things falling. Kimi, Tommy, and Stu turned to see the cause. It was Phil. He had just been slapped by a girl and knocked into something. Like most of the Rugrats, Phil hasn’t changed that much in the looks department, but he has tried to become a ladies man...with little success. Kimi put her hand on her face in embarrassment. “Please tell me you didn’t invite Phil.”

Stu laughed a tad bit embarrassed himself. “It seemed like a good idea at the time.”

Phil walked up to everyone. “Hey guys. So, we going?” He asked with a smile on his face. Kimi, Tommy, and Stu just sighed and shook their heads slightly.

On the plane (12:00 AM)

The plane was rather dark. Stu and Phil were asleep. In front of them were Kimi and Tommy. Kimi had her overhead light on but she looked like she was asleep. She had a book on her table titled “The Life of a Detective: Vol. 3. Sexual Based Crimes.” Her hand covered the author. Suddenly a hand tapped her shoulder. She slowly woke up and looked to see it was Tommy. “What do you want?”

Tommy seemed too excited to sleep. “I was just wondering. Now I know you’re going to be in Paris for business reasons only but...well...you think you and I can catch some of the sites?” He asked.

Kimi, rather tiredly, moved her head over to face Tommy. “Tommy. You know why I’m going to Paris in the first place...”

“I know, I know, you’re going there to get information to help your mother but and call me selfish but, what are the odds of us going to Paris again huh?” He asked in a rather begging voice.

Kimi sighed irritably. “Oh...all right. I’ll TRY to go a place or two with you.” She said rather tiredly.

A huge grin came upon Tommy’s face. “ALL RIGHT!” He cheered. Everyone around him, including Kimi, went SHHHHH. Tommy lowered his head in embarrassment.

Later, in Paris (3:00 AM)

Kimi and the others come off the plane. After walking outside they saw, not a Reptar bus, but a limo with a scoffer holding a sign that read “Pickles!”

“I always thought it was cause of Coco that we were picked up in such a cheap thing as a company bus.” Stu smiled.

Suddenly the limo drove off and there was a Reptar bus. Stu sighed disappointedly. Tommy patted his father on the shoulder. “It’s alright dad. Maybe next time we come to Paris.”

Later at Euro-Reptar (3:50 AM)

The four walk over to their rooms. Stu yawned. “Good night you two.” He said as he went in.

Phil yawned too. “Night guys. Sleep tight.” Then he went in.

Tommy and Kimi yawned too as they opened their room door. It was the honeymoon suit. They were too tired to look at the amazing room. It had a crystal glass chandelier, a fireplace, and a green colored heart shape bed. A curved love couch, a large screen TV, and a luxury bathroom. Tommy and Kimi ignored the scenery and just walked over to their bed and they bother, at the same time, fell on it and went right to sleep.

Later (9:00 AM)

Everyone’s heading up the elevator. They walked into the main office area. A secretary was at the desk.

“Bonjour. Welcome to Euro-Reptar.” She showed them to the main office were a woman sat in a chair.

“Yes, of course we’ll pay them well. Yes, yes, good bye.” The woman hung up the phone and looked at them. “Ah, Mr. Pickles, I’m so glad you could be here.”

Stu bowed a little. “It’s my pleasure Ms...uh...” He was at a lost for words.

“Oh, sorry, it’s Ms. Cunningham.” She said with a smile. Then she looked at Kimi. “Hello Kimi, my have you grown into a beautiful woman.” Kimi was a bit surprised. “Don’t be surprised Kimi. I was the one who sometimes watched you when your mother was too bust to even drop you off a daycare.”

“Oh! Now I remember...a little.” Kimi said with an embarrassed laugh.

Ms. Cunningham looked at Tommy. “And who’s this?”

“Oh, this is my son. Rising movie director Tommy Pickles.” Stu said with pride.

“And he’s my husband.” Kimi added.

“Ah. How did you meet such a great find Kimi?” Ms. Cunningham asked rather interestedly.

“Oh. He’s my step-brothers best friend.” Kimi replied.

“Step-brother? Your mother got married?” Ms. Cunningham asked rather surprised.

“Yeah, not long after we moved to America...didn’t any of you know that?” Kimi asked rather confusingly.

“No. She never told anyone. We haven’t seen her since she left for America.” Ms. Cunningham replied.

“Oh...say Ms. Cunningham. Whatever became of Coco LaBough?” Kimi asked.

“Oh HER?” She asked rather irritably. “She’s making quite a name for herself. Somehow she’s managed to create a perfume company that’s been a huge hit here in Paris. However I can’t seem to tell how, seeing as how the perfume smells awful.”

“Oh...do you know where she is now?” Kimi asked.

“She’s in a mansion not far from here. Just go a couple of blocks south and you’ll find it.” Ms. Cunningham replied. Kimi smiled, nodded, and turned around.

Tommy smiled. “See you later.” His kissed her.

“Later.” Kimi replied after they kissed. Then she left, got in her car, and drove off.

Later at LaBough Manor (10:30 AM)

Kimi walked up to the front door. “Never thought I’d see Coco again.” She sighed rather irritably as she knocked on the door.

The door opened and there was Jon Claude. He looked the same as he did the last time Kimi saw him (In Rugrats in Paris) except he was a tad bit on the balder side. “Yes, may I help you?” He asked as if he was a butler.

Kimi thought about what to say. ‘I better just stick with a name he’ll recognize. “Yes, I’m Kimi Watanabe, daughter of Kira Watanabe, and I’m here to see Madam LaBough.”

“Ah! Little Kimi. My how you’ve grown. Come this way. The mistress has just finished eating and is in the living room.” Jon Claude said very politely.

Kimi raised an eyebrow at his actions. ‘Man, either he’s been with Coco too long or something else is up?’

Jon Claude led her to a room. Sitting on a couch, reading a book, was Coco LaBough. “Madam. A Kimi Watanabe is here to see you.” He said with a bit of a bow.

Coco put the book down, revealing her face. It was clear age hasn’t been good for her. She had quite a number of wrinkles and her hair was a tad on the grey side, but Kimi could still recognize the cruel woman her mother used to work for. Coco smiled. “Ah! Kimi Watanabe. How good to see you.” With that Jon Claude left.

Kimi looked around at the room. “I wish the feeling was mutual.” Kimi said calmly.

“Ah, but why would you be here if you still don’t like me?” Coco asked rather interestedly.

Kimi put her attention back onto Coco. Then she took out her badge. “I’m a police detective now, and I’m here to ask a few questions.”

Coco seemed rather insulted, but she still had a smile on. “Oh, you came overseas to ask me questions? Whatever for?”

“My mother’s been arrested.” Kimi said; her voice still calm.

“Kira?” Coco gasped. “Oh dear! Whatever did she do?” As she spoke she picked up a cup of tea and held it. After she was done speaking she took a sip.

As Coco sipped Kimi spoke. “Supposedly she’s been funding a Terrorist group using a bank account situated here in Paris. However she’s never touched it while in America.”

Coco had finished sipping when Kimi was done. “And you think I’m a suspect?” She asked rather questionably.

Kimi started to walk up to Coco rather slowly. “No, I’m just wondering if you ever saw anything strange about my mother while she worked with you. Stuff that I wouldn’t know.”

Coco smiled. “No dear. I’m afraid I know nothing that vital. Sorry you made the trip here for nothing.” She snapped her fingers and Jon Claude return. “I wish you luck on clearing your mother’s name.”

Kimi seemed a bit surprised at Coco’s kindness. She followed Jon Claude to the door. “Good bye Madam. Oh, and could you tell your step father that Ms. LaBough would like that golden Inhaler back.” With that he closed the door.

Kimi quirked an eyebrow. Then she looked out to the area in front of the mansion. “Well that was a dead-end.” She sighed. “Guess, since I’m here, there’s one other person I can visit.”

Later at a house in Paris (12:00 PM)

Kimi knocked on the door. It opened, revealing a rather elderly woman. Kimi smiled. “Hello Grandma.”

The woman smiled. “Kimi! I haven’t seen you in...look at you! You’ve grown so beautiful. Your mother must be very proud. Come; come give your grandmother a hug.” Kimi smiled, bent down a little (her grandmother was on the shorter side) and hugged her. “Tell me child, what brings you here to Paris?”

“Actually, it’s about my mother.” Kimi started as she entered the house.

Later (12:55 PM)

Kimi’s grandmother put a cup of tea, which she had been drinking, down on the table. “I see. So that’s why you’re here.”

“Yes. I love my mother so much, and I don’t want anything to happen to her.” Kimi said rather calmly. Then she looked down.

“What’s wrong?” Her grandmother asked.

Kimi wiped a tear from her eye, shook her face a little, lifted her head up, and smiled. “Nothing’s wrong, why do you ask.”

Her grandmother had a stern look on her face. “You lie just like your mother. What’s wrong Kimi?”

Another tear came down Kimi’s face. “Besides the fact my mother’s in jail? I don’t want to loose her grandma. I lost my dad...my real dad, when I was little in a car crash, I don’t want to loose...”

Just then Kimi’s grandmother put her hand up in Kimi’s face, cutting her off. “Wait a second. What did you say...about your father I mean?”

Now Kimi was confused. “What did I sa...I said he died in a car crash when I was little. At least, that’s what my mother’s told me whenever I asked.”

Kimi’s grandmother sighed irritably. “I thought I told her to tell you the truth.”

Kimi was now even more confused. “Grandma, what are you talking about?”

Her grandmother stood up and walked over to a picture of, Kimi assumed, her grandfather. “Your father didn’t die in a car crash...not in the exact definition anyway.” Kimi looked at her grandmother confusingly. “In fact, he never knew he was going to be a father.” She said as she turned back to Kimi and sat back down.

“What are you saying? My mother LIED to me?” Kimi asked in a very concerned voice.

“Lying is a harsh word Kimi, but yes, to a certain degree, she did. You see, your father...wait...before I go further it’s best to tell you about your grandfather...I mean your father’s father. You see, before your father was born, your grandfather Chang Watanabe, was once an assassin for a Japanese crime syndicate known as the Preturners...don’t ask me where they got that name from...anyway, by the time your father was born, Chang had already retired from the Preturners.”

Kimi seemed interested. “How do you know all that, grandma?”

“His wife, your other grandmother, told me before she passed away. It was around the time of her death that the crime lord of the Preturners made arraignments with one of his partners here in Paris to have his daughter...by his I mean the partner...married to one of the Preturners men. Unfortunately none were available to be married, save for one...your father...it turns out that, unknown to Chang, your grandfather owed the Preturners so many debts that they could either be paid in the marriage...or blood.”

Her grandmother took another sip of tea. “However by this time your father had already met your mother and had proposed to her. When they heard about the forcibly-arranged marriage, your mother was willing to call it all off just to keep him alive. But your father refused to be manipulated like a puppet with strings. They were married, in secret, a few days later. However, during that time both of your grandfathers passed away; Chang of a heart of attack and my husband of a stroke.”

Kimi nodded. “What happened next?”

“Well, realizing Japan was no longer safe, I decided to return here to Paris and take your parents with me. We packed everything we could into your father’s car. Your mother and I went ahead in a Taxi while your father drove the car behind us. We came to an intersection. Your mother and I made the light but your father was stopped at the red. A few minutes after we turned, we heard and explosion. Your mother and I turned to see...it was your father’s car.” Kimi gasped in horror. “Yes, that’s the exact same look your mother had on her face.”

“Was it the Preturners?” Kimi asked rather desperately.

Her grandmother shook her head. “No child. That I know for certain. One of the other things your grandmother told me was that the Preturners assassins always did things the way they considered honorable, by killing at close range. They’d never EVER use explosives or bullets. No child, I believe it was either the partner...or his daughter.”

“What became of all of them?” Kimi asked.

“From what I know, the Preturners collapsed after their crime lord was arrested for Tax Fraud. The partner was killed in a heist gone wrong. I have no idea what happened to the daughter. Anyway, your mother and I continued to the airport and made it here to Paris...where your mother discovered she was pregnant with you. Nine months later you were born and your mother was the happiest I’ve ever seen her since before your father died.” Her grandmother finished.

Kimi just had a blank look on her face. “I don’t believe it...I cannot believe my own mother lied to me.” She said rather angrily as she stood up.

Her grandmother was worried about her granddaughter’s reaction to the truth. “Kimi wait, your mother...”

Kimi didn’t seem to listen. She walked to the door. The turned to face her grandmother. “Thank you grandma, for telling me the truth.” With that she walked out the door, leaving her grandmother looking very, very worried.

Later at Euro-Reptar (6:00 PM)

Kimi is already starting to pack her bags. Tommy walked in and was confused. “What’s up? You got all the stuff you needed to clear your mother?”

Kimi looked at him with a stern look on her face. “No I didn’t. But I did learn it’s not worth it anymore. I don’t care what happens to her now.”

Tommy was now even more confused. “What are you talking about Kimi? She’s your mother. She...”

“She is NOT my mother! She CAN’T be my mother. My mother would never lie to me like she did.” Kimi yelled with tears in her eyes. She fell onto her bed in tears.

Tommy went over to her to comfort her. “What happened sweetie? What did you find out?”

Kimi continued to cry. “My...my father didn’t die in a car crash when I was little. He...he never even knew I existed. He died...in a car bombing.” She cried on her husbands shoulder.

Tommy was shocked. He held his wife’s head softly. “There, there Kimi. Just let it out.” He sighed. “Maybe we should go someplace to calm down. Maybe the Eiffel Tower perhaps?”

Kimi stood up, knocking Tommy down. “Is that all you care about still?” She asked rather irritated. “Look Tommy, I DON’T have time for this. I didn’t come here to goof around!” She went back to her suitcase and looked at the stuff inside. “I’m heading back home and talk to my mother...” She closed the suitcase. “For the last time.”

Tommy just sighed. “Is that what you’re heart tell you?” Kimi just looked at him.

The next day at the state prison (12:00 PM)

Kimi walked over to a room where Kira was waiting inside at a table. When Kimi entered, Kira was overjoyed. “Kimi! I’m so glad to see you! They couldn’t keep me at your stations prison so they transferred me here.” Kimi just scoffed at her mother. “What’s wrong? You are able to get me out of here right?”

Kimi sat down at the table on the opposite end of her mother. “I didn’t get enough evidence and, frankly, I don’t plan on to anymore.” Kira was confused. “I talked to grandma mother. She told me everything.” Kira gasped and leaned back in her chair a little. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

Kira was unsure of what to say. “Kimi I...I wanted to protect you. I...”

Kimi slammed her hand on the table and stood up, leaning forward on her hand on the table. “That’s NO excuse! Granted, I’ll give you keeping it from me when I was a kid but I’m an adult mom! I have the right to know how my father really died! I deserve to know that he never knew I existed!”

Kira was now very unsure of what to say. “Kimi, it’s not that easy...maybe when you have kids of your own you’ll...”

Kimi got up from the table and scoffed. “Don’t give me that bullshit. That’s the oldest excuse a parent can give. Mom, I’ve had to tell people they’re kids have been rapped and murdered. I know what it feels like. I feel relieved to tell them. If I don’t, I feel awful. The ONLY time I don’t tell them is when I feel they don’t deserve to know. Tell me, mother, did you feel that way?”

“Kimi...I...” Kira was now starting to tear up. Kimi scoffed, opened the door, and slammed it shut, leaving Kira to cry.

Later at the police station (3:00 PM)

Kimi entered Chief Wakeman’s office. When she entered, she saw Agents Sander and Agent Wilco there. “You wanted to see me Chief?”

Wakeman sighed. “Kimi. We’ve gotten word that your mother has been broken out of prison by the terrorist group she’s been funding.”

Kimi’s eyes widened. “When did this happen?”

Wakeman put her head down and shook her head. “Not long after you left, detective.” Sanders replied.

It took Kimi a few seconds to realize what he was saying. “Now wait a second! You think that I helped break my mother out of prison?”

“We’re not accusing you Kimi. We just find it highly coincidental that she was broken out not long after you left.” Wakeman said, trying to be reassuring.

“We’re under orders for you to remove your badge and turn in your weapons.” Wilco replied.

“Now wait just a second!” Wakeman objected.

“When did these orders come in?” Sanders asked.

“I got a call while you were filling the car on the way here.” Wilco replied.

Wakeman glared at Wilco. “This is outrageous. Kimi is a proud member of our department and would never do such a thing. You can’t expect her to...”

“It’s alright Donna.” Kimi interrupted. “I’m sure it’ll only be temporarily.” She said as she took out her badge and her two guns and put them on table.

Wakeman sighed as she patted Kimi on the shoulder. “I’m sure it will be. However there’s one other thing I have to take.” She reached into Kimi’s coat and took out her Ninja Star. “This was a gift from us after all.”

Kimi nodded. Then she looked at Agent Wilco with a glare as she left. As she started for the door a voice called out. “Kimi! Kimi wait up!” Kimi turned to see Officer Rick Sandra running with an envelope in his hand. He panted a little. “This came in for you just a few minutes ago.”

Kimi took it and opened the envelope. She read it. “Oh god.” She gasped.

Later on the road (3:10 PM)

As Kimi drove, she thought about what the letter said.

We’ve got your mother. If you want to see her again, come to the warehouse down by the docks. Come alone and unarmed.

It was anonymous. ‘Why would the terrorist group that my mother was supposedly funding treat her like a hostage? It doesn’t make sense.’ She thought.

At the warehouse (3:30 PM)

Kimi walked inside the warehouse rather slowly. She walked towards the center of the warehouse. Suddenly a bunch of Ninjas surrounded her. She recognized the outfits as those used for the security in Euro-Reptar.

She heard a voice. “I’m glad you can make it, ex-detective Kimi Pickles.” It was coming from a figure in the shadows with a light nearby.

“Come out of the shadows Coco!” Kimi called.

The figure approached the light and revealed it to be Coco LaBough. “Well done. How did you figure out it was me.”

“I first had a feeling when Jon Claude mentioned my Father-in-law. No one else in Paris knows my mother was married. Also I realized that, being the boss of my mother, you must have been able to gain access to her bank account in Paris.” Kimi replied.

Coco smiled. “Well, your as good of a detective as they say you are Kimi.”

“One thing that still bothers me though. Why?” Kimi asked.

“Why?” Coco asked in her ferocious voice. “Why you ask! Well I’ll tell you why. It’s cause that woman has twice ruined my family.”

“Twice? What are you talking about? The only time she did something to affect you was before we left Paris. When else could she of...” Kimi stopped herself and realized something. “You’re the daughter of the Preturners Paris partner aren’t you?”

Coco smiled. “So you know about that eh? Yes I was the daughter who was supposed to marry your father. It was I whose family was ruined after your mother married his. Because of that, my father was furious with the Preturners and tried to do things on his own. However my father was used to being a lackey, not a crime lord, and it eventually cost him his own life. Insulted by my rejection, I decided to take my revenge and blow up your father’s car.” As she spoke she started to walk down until she was near ground level. Kimi gasped at that revelation. “I thought that your mother was inside too. When I came to Paris and later hired her, I never knew it was the bitch that ruined my family. However, when I did know, rather than reveal myself to her and risk her reporting me to the police, I decided to simply make her life a living hell as I had been. But after she helped foil my marriage to that red headed man, that was the last straw! After that I created this group, using my perfume company as a front. You were correct when you said I had access to Kira’s account. I knew that, sooner or later, the authority’s would discover it and arrest her. However it wasn’t happening fast enough. So I place a mole into the FBI do discover the evidence earlier than it would have. Everything was going smoothly...until you deiced to but in. I was quite surprise to find you had become a detective. I decided to find a better way of ruining your family.”

Kimi glared. “That’s why you broke my mother out and invited me here. But what are you going to do now? And where’s my mother?”

“You’re mother is safe in the control booth. As for what to do with you; well isn’t it obvious? I’ll kill you both and make it look like your mother was the cause of it.” Coco laughed.

Kimi smirked. Coco noticed and was confused. Kimi took out a walkie talkie. “You get that chief?”

“We got that, we’re coming in now.” Chief Wakeman spoke back.

Coco was furious. “How! You were kicked off the force!”

“My chief is not that easy to fool Coco. She figured something was up about Wilco...yes we know he was the mole...so, when she took my Ninja star, she slipped in a walkie talkie. We set up the plan while I was en route here.” She smiled.

Coco growled. “Kill her!”

All the ninjas went after Kimi. Kimi started to knock them all around. One grabbed her, but she tossed him into a group of the others. Another one charged, she kicked him in the gut. One came from behind; she tossed herself backwards on her hand and did a diagonal kick to the gut, sending him into the air.

During this Kira is still tied up in the control booth with monitors. Inside was Jon Claude guarding her. “Such a pity. You know, I always enjoyed bossing you around.” He said as he played with her hair. Kira jerked her head away form his hand. “My, my, you’ve developed some hostility here in America.”

Kira smirked. “That’s not all I’ve developed.” With that she kicked Jon Claude between the legs, causing him to bend down, then she kicked him in the face. Then she started to undo her rope.

Just then Chief Wakeman and the SWAT team barged in and started to handle the ninjas. Wakeman tossed Kimi a gun. Kimi took it and smiled at her. Then she looked at where Coco was and saw she ran off up a ladder, Kimi went after her.

Back in the control room Kira finally broke free of the ropes.

Kimi chased Coco up to a long metal and rope bridge that led from on are of the warehouse to the other. Coco was rather confused at this feature. “Whatever crazy America designed this much have been a loon.”

Kimi caught up with her and held her gun at Coco. “It’s over LaBough. Surrender now and this’ll all end quietly.”

Coco noticed how wobbly the bridge was and started to knock it back and forth. These causes Kimi to loose her balance, drop her gun, and fall over. She grabbed onto the bridge for dear life. Coco laughed. “My, my how the tables have turned.” She stepped on Kimi’s hand, causing Kimi let go of that part of the bridge. “You know, I always saw you as a pest. You were always a nuisance...a carpet mouse. Well, sweetie, I’m the exterminator.” With that she lifted her foot.

Kimi closed her eyes, waiting for Coco to step on her hand. That didn’t happen. Kimi looked up to see Coco flinching a bit before falling down. Kira was behind her. “I’ve always wanted to do that.” She smiled. Then she helped her daughter up.

“Mom I...”

“Kimi I...”

The two of them laughed a little.

Later (5:00 PM)

Kimi and Kira watch as Coco and Jon Claude are being taken away. As their car drives off, Kimi and Kira look at each other.”

Kira looked really sad. “Kimi, I’m truly sorry. I know it was wrong of me not to tell you about...”

Kimi waved her hand in her mothers face, cutting her off. “No, no mother, I’m the one who was in the wrong. I guess there are something things a person shouldn’t know. You were right to...sugarcoat the story as best you could. It’s just...it’s just I was totally caught off guard when Grandma told me.” She stopped a moment. “I love you, Okaasan.”

Kira smiled. “And I, you Musumesan.” The two hugged each other.

Three days later

Kimi is sitting at home reading her book when the door came open revealing Tommy. Kimi put her book down, stood up, and walked to him. “Where have you been? It was supposed to be a two day drip.”

Tommy moaned. “Phil decided to try and get some girls and, well, you know Phil. He ended up in the slammer. It took us a few days to finally get him out.”

Kimi laughed. “That’s all? Come on, you can lie better than that.” She said with a smirk.

“It’s the truth!” Tommy insisted.

“Please! You expect me to believe a lie like that?” Kimi laughed.

“Oh yeah! Well come here and I’ll make you. With my Tickle-claws.” Tommy said with a big smile. He put his hands in a claw-like pose. Then he and Kimi ran around the house laughing.

Meanwhile on an airplane

The seatbelt light shines on. A flight attendant approaches a Japanese man, wearing glasses, reading a book. “Sir, the landing’s supposed to be rather bumpy. I’d, personally, recommend closing that book.”

The man removed his glasses and looked at her. “Thank you for that thought.” He took out a bookmark and put it inside the book.

The Flight Attendant looked at it. “That’s a nice photo. Who is that woman?”

The man sighed. “Just a woman I used to know who lives in America.”

“Are you going to visit her?” She asked.

“Possibly.” The man said as he put his book down. The picture/bookmark is revealed to be of Kira.

Well, that’s it for now. Tell me, what did you think? Sorry it took so long, final’s and stuff got in the way. I promise the next one won’t take as long. Anyway, next time on Detective Kimi, while in New York, Nicole is rapped. Kimi teams up with the Special Victims Unit (SVU) to solve the case. Yes it is a DK/L&O SVU crossover.
This is the second chapter of my Detective Kimi story. Kira's Been Arrested. Kimi goes to Paris to find some answers and gets more than she bargained for. This tells my version of what really happened to Kimi's father.
