I just got back from Michigan's Youmacon Anime Convention and it was...pretty dang awesome!
I was only able to go for one full day (even though I pre-registered for 3 days...thank god I did...you should ahve seen the line for the "At con" registers) but it was pretty epic!
Now this was not only my first anime con BUT my first convention that took place in a hotel so all my experience at Comic Conventions...*Scoffs* Did NOTHING but make me totally and utterly confused! I am so used to going into one big room where you have dealers, artists, and celebrities all in the one area, and the celebs are in their booths for the whole convention. Here...it wasn't that simple. You could either meet the person at this thing called Maid Cafe (a friday only event) which was basically where you eat a desert and drink tea while the celebs roam around and you can interact with them. YOu can meet them when they do their autographs (which can be during specific days of the weekend). You can hope to see them at the end of a panel they're doing. OR you can just get lucky and find them walking the con.
FORTUNATELY for me...I lucked out! I went to the maid cafe (paid an extra $10 to make sure I was there at the start...they allow people who do so to get in an hour earlier before everyone else) and I got ot meet who I wanted to meet.
Who were the people I wanted to meet? Why The Nostalgia Critic and Linkara of course! I even had a bonus and met Angry Joe (Look up "That Guy with the glasses" if yo have no ide who I'm talking about) and it was FUN! I only talk with them for a brief bit but here's what I got out of it!
Nostalgia Critic: I got his signature on a small piece of paper I had, I gave him a chapter of a fan fic I and :Kingdomkey23: co-wrote taht featured him (included my e-mail address so he can respond), and suggested an idea for an episode for him to do! It was GREAT! Later on I was able to meet him again and had got him to, via cell phone, talk with :Kingdomkey23: (Don't ever say I never did anything nice for you man
Linkara: I gave him a comic I told him about so he can review it on his show (He said he had a copy already but I said "Just burn mine then"). I then, just to see how he'd react, showed him my trade of SPider-Man One More Day...and he did what I expected. He took it and BEAT IT TO THE GROUND! Then he picked it up and signed his name on it along with "THIS COMIC SUCKS!". I then got a picture with him and AngryJoe too and I talked with him a bit too. Great nice guy!
AngryJoe: Got the pic with him and Linkara...nothing much but he admits "I" may be more energetic than HE is! (And that's saying a lot!)
I even met some anime voice actors (English dubbers) and got some of them to sign some anime stuff I had (I had Laura Bailey sign my Resident Evil Degeneration DVD and I got Brad Swalie to sign my Saber Marionet J Complete Collection DVD which brought back memories for him since he did it AGES ago).
I even met some funny people in costumes (DAMN there were a lot of Kingdom Heart Cosplayers) and took some pics of them too
I'll be posting these pictures later, like I said above, so you all can see.
I will be going tomorrow in the morning but ONLY for a little bit...mainly so I can see a little event/panel where Critic, Linkara, and the Team Four Star (DBZ Abridged guys...who acted a little skit around the "It's over 90000" bit I might add) do a MST3K type event of a movie that'll be a surprise. After that I'm going to have to go to work and Sunday I'll miss out on everythign there.
BUt overall it was REALLY fun...did I say that already? Well that's what I can say...it was fun fun fun
Oh and FYI...I found out I'm taller than ALL THREE of those guys! AND I got Bargo (However you spell his name) who does Mahtee in the critic videos to pose and say "heart!"

Sorry that i was doing it for so long time...
